Since 2003 to the present, DEGREANE HORIZON has been involved in developing France’s radar-based space surveillance system, GRAVES (for “Grand Réseau Adapté à la VEille Spatiale”).

GRAVES is the only system of its kind in Europe. It is used by the French Air Force to track and catalogue low-orbiting satellites up to an altitude of 1,000 km.

In 2016, ONERA and DEGREANE HORIZON were awarded a joint contract by the DGA for a 5-year programme to renovate the GRAVES system. The company will undertake the complete renovation of the transmissions site. This contract will extend the life of the system up to 2030 and includes improvements in its performance.

  • Renovating the emission site (replacing hardware and software, renovating infrastructure)
