Automatic Weather Station Networks

DEGREANE HORIZON Meteorological Observation Networks include isolated AWS, AWS with CAOBS platform for collecting and SYNOP coding and a WDDP data collection platform for data collecting, storage and data diffusion.

Fonctions
At station level :
- Data acquisition : up to one measurement per minute
- Data control, display and storage
- Assistance in observation message coding according to WMO standards
- Information available in real-time
- Customized interfaces depending on users’ needs

At Data Collection Platform level :
- Data collecting in automatic mode or upon request from every station of the network via INMARSAT, GSM or the public telephone network
- Automatic preparation and transmission of messages and bulletins according to WMO standards to GTS/AFTN, AMSS, voice response systems and climatological databases.

Transmission of collective and service messages to the stations of the network

Climatological observation networks provide continuous, homogenous and high quality input for numerical forecasting model databases. Acquired data improve our understanding of climatic change, and is used for numerous things such as fighting against locusts, flood forecast, urban pollution management,hydrological observation.
