Identification of the state of the ground
The main principles
Identifying the state of the ground means :
- Getting synoptic meteorological observation messages, SYNOP, which include “snow cover” and are sent to the World Meteorological Organization;
- Completing and confirming the “present time” information included in the aeronautical meteorological observation messages for people working in airports.
The sensor determines the following states of the ground :
Dry, humid, wet, partial snow cover, snow cover, ground frost or icy.
It can identify these different precipitations : drizzle, freezing drizzle, rain, freezing rain and snow. In addition it can measure snow height ranging from 0 to 65 cms
Our advantages
The principle of the SOLIA 300 is based on the analysis of the phenomena of the scattering and reflection of light from a flat surface made of matt black granular material* (*which we will name “the target”). This principle which relies on the direct analysis of the ground parameters and not those of a phenomenum consecutive to a change of the state of the ground, means that the diagnosis will all the more be reliable.
The SOLIA 300 sensor completes the state of the ground identifying data with information about snow height and the sort of freezing drizzle/rain.
The sensor is fitted out with automatic self-calibration and compensates for the fouling of the “target” which greatly reduces the number of check-ups required.
Some advice
The sensor should be set up on a piece of land of about 10 m2 clear of any shade : its orientation will be determined by the veracity of its diagnosis. |
