RTC line switch manifold

The MICROCOM 248 working as a line switch manifold ensures the switching to 4 or 8 terminals (telephones or modem, counters, quality tools, new counters like ICE). The switching function is carried out on reception of the DTMF code.
Functions
Switch line manifold :
The MICROCOM 248 is bi-directional , any device having a PSTN interface can be connected to it, telephones or modems can have access to the PSTN. In case of internal failure or lack of power supply, there is a shunting of the system to enable the call to get through between the PSTN telephone line entry and line no. 1 of the line switch manifold. Priority is given to line no. 1, this one can carry out a call, even if there is already a communication on another line.
Phone number switch over system :
The PC dials, via its MODEM, the entire number (telephone number plus switch over system code number) using the phone number switch over device. The MICROCOM 248, used as a phone number switch over system, retains and deletes the switch over system code, which will be emitted only when the communication with the line switch manifold has been done.
The MICROCOM 248, used as a phone number switch over system, does not need to be used for numbers with only 10 figures. When configured on the card, it can carry out dialing going from 2 to 16 figures plus the switch over system code. When the code is received, the line switch manifold rings on the chosen line and makes the communication possible.
